Relationship And Timing

# Synastry

Use Synastry to compare two saved Astro Clock charts and read either the narrative **Memo** report or one of the structured engines: - **Memo** - **Life Themes** - **Union Dynamics** - **Work Alliance**

Uses / depends on

Requires two saved charts

Synastry compares saved charts, so the quality of the comparison depends on having the right saved charts ready.

## Before You Start

Synastry compares saved charts.

- You need at least two saved charts. Save them in Astro Clock with **Save chart**.
- **Chart A** and **Chart B** must be different charts.
- The saved charts are used as they were saved. Changing the house system in Astro Clock does not recast a saved pair.

Open Synastry from the People group of the Astro Clock Tools bar. It opens in its own window; close it with the close button or press Escape.

## Screen At A Glance

- Close button (or press Escape)

## Choosing The Charts

- Choose the first chart under **Chart A**.
- Choose the second chart under **Chart B**.
- Each chart's name, date, time, place and time zone appear under its list.

The report refreshes as soon as both charts are chosen.

## Engine Tabs

- **Memo**: the narrative report
- **Life Themes**: a full-house engine organised as self-to-theme comparisons
- **Union Dynamics**: partnership and domestic compatibility, organised around bond and home
- **Work Alliance**: collaboration, built from the business houses (1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th and 10th)

Every tab recomputes from the same two saved charts and the same scope settings.

## Scoring Scope

Below the tabs, Synastry shows the scope for the pair:

- **Include**: **Modern planets**, **Nodes** and **Chiron**
- **Orbs**: **Tight**, **Balanced** or **Wide**

These change the scoring layers and orb tolerance only. They don't rebuild the saved charts with the current Astro Clock settings. The window can warn when a layer, such as Chiron, isn't available.

**Union Dynamics** also shows **Profile A** and **Profile B** (**Blended**, **Feminine** or **Masculine**). Profiles don't change any score: every couple is scored on the same role-neutral pairings, and Feminine and Masculine only mark which Sun-Moon exchange Ptolemy singles out.

## Reading The Memo

### Overall Compatibility

The **Verdict** opens with the overall compatibility score out of 100 and whether it reads positive or negative.

### Relationship Signature

The **Relationship signature** gives the pair a short verbal identity, such as "Mixed, but meaningful", and then breaks it into three axes:

- **Ease**
- **Bond**
- **Growth**

### What Holds It Together And What Creates Strain

Two columns list the strongest supportive and straining contacts, each with its score and the factor behind it.

### Deeper Sections

Further down, the Memo adds:

- **Dimension scores**: emotional resonance, communication, attraction and chemistry, compatibility and ease, attachment and longevity, growth and purpose, friction and conflict, and burden
- **Evidence**: the supporting and straining contacts in full
- **House overlays**: where each chart's planets fall in the other chart's houses
- **Model and pressure**: the scope and model in force, and the pressure summary

## Reading The Structured Engines

**Life Themes**, **Union Dynamics** and **Work Alliance** open with a **Verdict** showing the composite total and the engine's own totals, for example the theme total and aspect total. These totals summarise the returned lists; they are not hidden scores from the source.

**Work Alliance** adds a **Durability check** built from three parts:

- the business-house foundation (theme base)
- the shared contact layer
- the pressure load

It answers a practical question: does the pair look able to hold a collaboration over time, or productive but exposed to stress.

Below the verdict, **Reading notes** name the strongest and most difficult areas. The structured view opens on **Areas**, with the areas diagram, each chart's thematic elements, element compliance and house importance. The other pages open the row-level tables for themes and the shared contact grid.

## Practical Workflow

- Save the two charts in Astro Clock.
- Open **Synastry**.
- Choose **Chart A** and **Chart B**.
- Adjust **Include** and **Orbs** only if you want a narrower or wider reading.
- Start with the overall compatibility and the relationship signature.
- On a structured engine, start with the verdict totals, then the areas and row tables.
- On **Memo**, move down into dimension scores, evidence and house overlays.

## Notes

- Synastry needs two saved charts; it has no free-entry chart form.
- Include options such as modern planets or Chiron can be limited by the data available.
- **Work Alliance** uses the business houses 1, 2, 6, 7 and 10 and includes the durability check in its verdict.
