# Astro Clock Overview

Use Astro Clock to follow the current chart, hold a chart at a fixed moment in Manual mode, save charts you want to reuse, and open the deeper Astro Clock tools from the chart on screen.

Uses / depends on

Start here

Use this page first to understand how the main workspace hands its chart to the other Astro Clock tools.

## Screen At A Glance

![Annotated Astro Clock workspace with the Tools bar, the top bar, the Current aspects tile, the chart and the House cusps tile](/assets/img/docs/astro-clock/astro-clock-workspace-v320.webp)
Figure 1. The Astro Clock workspace.

Legend

- Tools bar: People, Timing and Places

- **More**: the other tools

- **Realtime** or **Manual**

- Date, time and location

- **Refresh** and **Copy AI prompt**

- Orb choice in **Current aspects**: Lilly, Morin or Modern

- **More** in Current aspects: the full aspect window

- **Save chart**

- A collapsible tile (**House cusps**)

Astro Clock does three jobs in one place:

- follow the current chart in Realtime
- hold the chart at a fixed moment in Manual mode
- hand that chart to the other Astro Clock tools

Below the top bar the workspace is made of tiles: the **Chart** itself, **Moon**, **Current aspects** and **Planets**, which always stay open, and collapsible tiles such as **Solar conditions**, **Saved charts**, **Influence and afflictions**, **Receptions**, **Dispositors**, **House cusps**, **Cusp aspects**, **Directional**, **Sect** and **Degree hits**. **Fixed stars**, **Arabic lots**, **Almuten** and **Asteroids** sit together under **Chart details** at the bottom. Click a collapsible tile's title to fold it away; Astro Clock remembers which tiles you closed on this device.

## The Tools Bar

The tools are grouped along the top of Astro Clock:

- **People**: **Synastry** and **Trait profile**
- **Timing**: **Transits** and **Election**
- **Places**: **Astrocartography**, **Mundane** and **Weather**
- **More**: **Chinese astrology**, **Forensic** and **Birth-time check** (formerly Birth Time Certification)

Each tool opens in its own window with a single close button; press Escape to close it too. If a tool opens from Realtime, Astro Clock pauses the live chart while the window is open and resumes when you close it.

## Realtime And Manual Modes

![Annotated Astro Clock top bar in Manual mode: mode, date, time, location, Refresh, Apply and Copy AI prompt](/assets/img/docs/astro-clock/astro-clock-top-bar-v320.webp)
Figure 2. The top bar in Manual mode.

Legend

- **Realtime** or **Manual**

- **Date**

- **Time**

- **Location**, with the time zone it resolves to

- **Refresh**

- **Apply** (Manual mode)

- **Copy AI prompt**

### Realtime

Use Realtime to follow the chart for the current moment and place.

- The chart updates by itself while Realtime is on.
- **Refresh** asks for the current Astro Clock data again without changing mode.

### Manual

Use Manual to hold Astro Clock on a fixed chart.

- Enter a date, time and location.
- Click **Apply** to move the workspace to that moment.
- The chart stays there until you change it or go back to Realtime.

Loading a saved chart also switches Astro Clock to Manual, using the saved chart's date, time and place.

## Saved Charts

![Annotated Saved charts tile with Refresh and Search, saved chart rows and the Load and Delete menu](/assets/img/docs/astro-clock/astro-clock-saved-charts-v320.webp)
Figure 3. The Saved charts tile (formerly Saved snaps).

Legend

- **Saved charts** (click to collapse)

- **Refresh** and **Search**

- Name, place, date and time

- Planetary hour, Moon sign and sect

- Row actions

- **Load** and **Delete…**

Saved charts are not screenshots. Each one stores the chart's moment, place and time zone, a short summary, and the chart data the other Astro Clock tools need.

### How To Save A Chart

- Click **Save chart** above the chart wheel.
- Vox Stella saves the chart on screen and puts it first in **Saved charts**.

### What You Can Do In Saved Charts

- **Refresh** reloads the list.
- **Load** (from the row's action menu) puts that chart in Astro Clock and switches to Manual.
- **Delete…** asks you to confirm, then removes the saved chart.
- **Search** switches the tile to search mode, where you can search by label or place, by a planet's sign and house such as `Sun Leo H10`, or by an aspect such as `Moon trine Venus`.

Use the [Saved Charts Guide](/docs/astro-clock/saved-snaps/) for the full storage, search and reuse workflow.

## Why Saved Charts Matter

Saved charts connect the main Astro Clock view to the deeper tools.

- They let you come back to a chart without building it again.
- Some tools need saved charts.
- Other tools work without one but can use one when it is there.

## How Saved Charts Feed Other Astro Clock Tools

### Synastry

Synastry compares two saved charts.

- Choose one as **Chart A** and one as **Chart B**.
- The report compares those saved charts directly.

![Annotated Synastry window with Chart A and Chart B, the engine tabs, scope options and the verdict](/assets/img/docs/astro-clock/astro-clock-synastry-v320.webp)
Figure 4. Synastry compares two saved charts.

Legend

- **Chart A**

- **Chart B**

- Engine tabs: Memo, Life Themes, Union Dynamics, Work Alliance

- **Include** and **Orbs**

- **Overall compatibility**

- **Relationship signature**

- Ease, Bond and Growth

- **What holds it together**

- **What creates strain**

- Close button (or press Escape)

### Transits

Transits can take the birth chart in two ways:

- **Enter birth data**: type the birth date, time and place
- **Saved chart**: use a chart you saved in Astro Clock

![Annotated Transits setup with the chart source, saved chart picker and transit date and time](/assets/img/docs/astro-clock/astro-clock-transits-setup-v320.webp)

Legend

- **Chart source**

- **Choose saved chart**

- **Refresh** and **Clear**

- **House system**

- **Transit date (optional)**

- **Transit time (optional)**

- **Residence for returns (optional)**

- Close button (or press Escape)

The scan, the predictor and the exact-time check all use the birth chart you choose.

### Astrocartography, Mundane And Weather

The **Places** tools share one window with three tabs: **Astrocartography**, **Mundane** and **Weather**. Each tab has a setup column on the left, results in the middle and, when you select a place or result, a side inspector on the right.

- **Astrocartography** works from a saved chart. If you have none yet, the window offers **Save current chart**.
- **Map lines** can show the natal map or add a transit overlay on top of it.
- **Mundane** scans ingress, lunation, eclipse and event charts for a country or place. See the [Mundane Guide](/docs/astro-clock/mundane/).
- **Weather** scans a place or region for astrological weather signatures. It is not a weather forecast. See the [Weather Guide](/docs/astro-clock/weather/).

Figure 6. Astrocartography with an inspected place.

Legend

- **Astrocartography**, **Mundane** and **Weather** tabs

- **Birth chart**

- **Map lines**: Natal or Transit

- **Inspect city**

- **Place finder goal**

- Map, Intersections, Local space and Report

- Map layers

- Map, with zoom

- Side inspector for the inspected place

- **Add to compare**

- **Summary**

The usual flow is:

- choose a saved birth chart
- choose a Place finder goal if you want ranked cities
- look at the map, inspect a city or rank candidate cities
- inspect a city for the deeper reading
- move through Intersections, Local space and Report

Use the [Astrocartography Guide](/docs/astro-clock/astrocartography/) for the map workflow and the [Place Finder Guide](/docs/astro-clock/astrocartography-pathfinder/) for goals, atlas search and ranked candidates.

### Election

Election doesn't always need a saved chart, but one changes what it can do.

- Without a saved chart, scans use the conditions of each candidate time.
- With a saved chart, supported purposes add natal context. Battle uses a limited contact overlay and return-window annotations; it does not judge natal promise, annual revolutions or directions.
- Two-person marriage elections use two saved charts.

### Trait Profile

Trait profile opens on the chart in Astro Clock (**Current**), or you can switch its **Chart source** to **Saved chart** and pick one. Use the [Trait Profile Guide](/docs/astro-clock/trait-profile/) for its tabs and filters.

### Forensic

Forensic (under **More**) reads the **Current chart** or a saved chart you choose in its **Chart** list. Use the [Forensic Guide](/docs/astro-clock/forensic/) for its sections, local space, brief and export.

## Other Astro Clock Entry Points

### Current Aspects

The **Current aspects** tile shows the aspects in force in the chart on screen.

- Choose the orbs: **Lilly** (the default), **Morin** or **Modern**.
- Filter by **Any**, **Applying** or **Separating**.
- Turn on **Morin mode** for Morin's latitude-corrected aspects.
- Click **More** for the full window with the aspect grid, antiscia, parallels and cusp aspects. See the [Current Aspects Guide](/docs/astro-clock/aspect-analysis/).

### Copy AI Prompt

**Copy AI prompt** in the top bar copies one of three prompts built from the chart on screen:

- **Natal chart prompt**
- **Case prompt**
- **Asset first-trade prompt**

Load a saved chart first if the prompt should describe that chart.

## Practical Workflow

- Start in Realtime to look at the current chart.
- Switch to Manual when you want to hold a fixed moment, then click **Apply**.
- Click **Save chart** when you want to keep a chart.
- Load a saved chart before opening a tool that should read that exact chart.
- Use the Tools bar for synastry, transits, elections, places and the other tools.

## Notes

- Saved charts are stored locally for this app installation.
- Loading a saved chart is the quickest way to make an earlier chart the active one.
- Synastry needs two saved charts, and Astrocartography needs a saved birth chart.
- Transits can work from typed birth data or a saved chart.
- Election can run without a saved chart; supported purposes use one when it is there.
