# The Idaho Student Murders Through Vox Stella's Forensic Astrology Engine

The King Road scene, the role of forensic astrology, and the exact homicide, deception, and fatal-pressure output produced by Vox Stella across the official event window.

**About this case study.** Vox Stella does not claim that astrology solves crimes. An event chart is not evidence, proof of guilt or innocence, or a substitute for police work, courts, or the testimony of those affected. This is a retrospective reading of a documented case, written after the facts were known, to show how the method works and where it fails. For the method and its limits, see [What Is Forensic Astrology?](/blog/posts/what-is-forensic-astrology)

On November 13, 2022, four University of Idaho students were killed inside an off-campus house at 1122 King Road in Moscow, Idaho. Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen were 21. Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin were 20. Their deaths devastated four families, the university, and a town that had long regarded itself as a safe college community.

The case returned to wide public attention through Netflix's three-part series [*The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare*](https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/the-idaho-murders-college-nightmare-release-date-trailer-news). The documentary centers the victims while tracing the investigation from the night of the killings to the arrest and conviction of Bryan Kohberger. Kohberger pleaded guilty in July 2025 to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary. The court imposed four consecutive life sentences without parole, followed by a ten-year burglary sentence.

Vox Stella's forensic engine was given the event chart—not Kohberger's birth chart and not the documentary's release chart. The result was direct: homicide, concealment, and fatal pressure appeared as the dominant structure. The same classification held across the entire official 25-minute homicide window.

## The Case and the King Road Scene

Goncalves and Mogen had returned from downtown Moscow shortly before 2 a.m. Kernodle and Chapin had also returned to the King Road residence after spending part of the night at the Sigma Chi house. Two other roommates were home and survived.

At 11:58 a.m., police responded to a 911 call requesting help for an unconscious person. Officers entered the residence and found the four students deceased on the second and third floors. The Latah County coroner determined that all four deaths were homicides by stabbing. Police reported that the victims were likely asleep when the attack began, that some had defensive wounds, and that each had been stabbed multiple times. There was no sign of sexual assault.

The scene also contained the object that became central to the investigation: a tan leather knife sheath beside Madison Mogen. Laboratory work recovered a single-source male DNA profile from its button snap. A surviving roommate reported seeing a man dressed in black, with a mask covering his mouth and nose, moving through the house. A nearby camera recorded distorted audio, a thud, and a dog barking at approximately 4:17 a.m.

Court filings placed the homicides between 4:00 and 4:25 a.m. That interval is the foundation of the astrological analysis. Vox Stella used 4:12:30 a.m. as the center point, then reran the engine at both ends of the official window to test whether the chart's central message changed.

## Forensic Astrology in Brief

[Forensic astrology](/blog/posts/what-is-forensic-astrology) reads the chart of a disappearance, attack, death, discovery, emergency call, or other decisive event. It treats the Ascendant and its ruler as the life-bearing or victim side of the chart, the 7th house as the opposing-person axis, the 8th house as death and fatal mechanism, the Moon as the movement of events, and Mars and Saturn as primary carriers of violence, injury, severance, obstruction, and finality.

The method becomes powerful when several testimonies converge. One difficult aspect can describe many forms of pressure. A repeated structure—life ruler tied to the 8th, angular malefic force, combustion, Neptune pressure, and a lower survivability stack—describes an event family. Forensic astrology is therefore read as a system of combined testimony, not as a single dramatic placement.

## How the Vox Stella Forensic Feature Works

Inside [Vox Stella](/product), the Forensic workspace turns that method into a structured dossier. The user loads an event chart in Astro Clock, opens [Forensic](/docs/astro-clock/forensic/), and chooses the case profile. The engine then organizes the reading into Findings, Victim, Perpetrator, Relationship, Witnesses, Deception, Abduction, and Raw Evidence.

The engine does more than list aspects. It assembles case axes, scores survivability, traces relationship testimony, groups deception indicators, and preserves the rule evidence beneath each finding. The `RAW` view exposes the underlying values, while `AI Brief (Copy)` and `Export PDF` preserve the dossier for comparison.

**Benchmark result:** 6 of 6 documented checks passed, with the classification stable across the full official time window.

## Why the Homicide Signature Was So Strong

The leading finding was `Life/death overlap points to violence or homicide`. It carried the engine's highest finding weight. The chart's first-house ruler—the ruler of life, body, and immediate condition—also ruled the 8th house of death. In forensic work, that is a concentrated life/death testimony: the same planetary ruler carries both ends of the event.

The second high-weight result said the same thing in technical form: `1st ruler also rules the 8th`. This was not a loose keyword match. The engine reached the homicide axis through house rulership, then reinforced it through malefic condition and aspect structure.

The third major finding was `Malefic contrary to sect (angular)`. Angular planets act visibly and forcefully. A malefic operating contrary to sect carries a more disruptive expression, and its angularity gives that pressure the power to dominate the event. In this chart, violence is not background symbolism. It is structurally elevated.

## The Deception and Concealment Layer

The second case axis was **Deception / Cover-up**. Several findings built it:

- `Mercury combust the Sun`

- `Mars–Neptune square`

- `Venus–Saturn hard aspects`

- `Venus in detriment with Saturn influence`

Combust Mercury describes information overwhelmed, hidden, or unable to operate in the open. Mars square Neptune joins violent action with obscurity, confusion, masked movement, and uncertainty about what happened inside the house. Venus under Saturn pressure hardens the chart further, binding the life/death ruler to deprivation, fear, and finality.

That layer fits the shape of the case: an attack carried out inside an occupied residence before dawn, a masked figure seen moving through the house, surviving occupants who did not see the killings themselves, and a crime that remained undiscovered until late morning. The chart's deception axis describes concealment as part of the event structure.

## The Survivability Result

Vox Stella classified survivability as **Lower** and placed the event in the **Fatal pressure dominant** band. At the midpoint, the score was **-2.92**. The outcome among the four direct victims was zero survivors.

This is where the engine's layering matters. It does not turn every violent chart into a fatal chart. Violence and survivability are calculated separately. Here, the life/death rulership overlap, angular malefic force, Saturn pressure, and supporting violence testimony outweighed the chart's recovery indicators. The result correctly stayed on the fatal side.

## The Result Held Across the Official 25-Minute Window

A strong event reading should survive a documented time range. Vox Stella therefore recalculated the case at 4:00 a.m., 4:12:30 a.m., and 4:25 a.m.

Local time
Case axes
Survivability
Relationship field

`04:00:00`
Homicide + deception
Lower / fatal pressure (`-2.92`)
Stranger / Public

`04:12:30`
Homicide + deception
Lower / fatal pressure (`-2.92`)
Stranger / Public

`04:25:00`
Homicide + deception
Lower / fatal pressure (`-4.14`)
Stranger / Public

The numerical pressure deepened at the closing edge, but the classification did not move. Homicide remained active. Deception remained active. Survivability remained lower and fatal-pressure dominant. The relationship field remained stranger/public. The chart's main testimony was therefore not dependent on selecting one convenient minute.

## Engine Output Compared With the Documented Event

Case question
Vox Stella output
Documented event

What event family dominated? **Violence / Homicide** Four homicide deaths by stabbing
Was this an accident or disaster? Axis absent Intentional homicide, not an accident
Was this a water or drowning event? Axis absent Victims found inside the residence
Was this an abduction or missing-person event? Axis absent All four victims were found at the scene
Did the chart signal a child victim? Axis absent The victims were 20 and 21
What was the victim-outcome direction? **Lower / Fatal pressure dominant** All four direct victims died

## What the Idaho Chart Shows

The Idaho event chart is one of the clearest demonstrations of Vox Stella's forensic structure. The engine did not scatter into unrelated case families. It selected homicide, excluded accident, drowning, abduction, and child-victim axes, and placed survivability firmly in the fatal-pressure band.

The astrological logic was equally coherent. The ruler of life also carried the 8th house of death. An angular malefic contrary to sect raised the violence level. Mercury's combustion and the Mars–Neptune square described an event hidden in darkness, confusion, and masked movement. Venus-Saturn pressure bound the chart's life/death ruler into severity and finality.

Most importantly, the result held throughout the time established by the court record. The output did not need an artificially exact death minute to tell the story. Across the full interval, Vox Stella read the same event: concealed violence, homicide, and a fatal outcome.

## FAQ

### What time did Vox Stella use for the Idaho murders event chart?

The primary chart used 4:12:30 a.m. on November 13, 2022, the midpoint of the official 4:00–4:25 a.m. homicide window. The engine was also run at 4:00 and 4:25, and the classification remained unchanged.

### What did the Vox Stella forensic engine identify?

It identified violence/homicide and deception/cover-up as the case axes, lower survivability, a fatal-pressure-dominant outcome band, and a stranger/public relationship field.

### What was the strongest astrological finding?

The strongest finding was the overlap between life and death rulership: the first-house ruler also ruled the 8th house. Angular malefic pressure reinforced the homicide reading.

### Did the engine confuse the case with an accident, drowning, abduction, or child-victim case?

No. All four contradictory axes were absent. The engine passed all six documented case checks.

### What does the deception axis mean in this chart?

It is built from Mercury combustion, Mars–Neptune pressure, and Venus–Saturn testimony. In the event record, it corresponds with masked movement, an attack concealed inside an occupied house, and the long interval before discovery.
